Münster is a city of science. The university, the technical university, further colleges and scientific facilities form the city's face.

The university's popularity is no doubt due to the wide range of subjects on offer (over 120), the excellence of the research carried out in many departments, and the high quality of life in the city of Münster.
Münster University has an international dimension. More than 3.500
foreign students study here, and we have partnership agreements with
over 400 academic institutions all over the world. Together with
Enschede (Netherlands) and Osnabrück (Germany), Münster forms a
university triangle within the area known as "Euregio".
About 9.000 students currently join more than 30 programs of study at the Technical University in Münster. The University focusses is on natural science and technics. With great success - Münsters Technical University is among the top third-party-funded universities in Germany. The following departments are instrumental for Münsters technology profile:
The Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Biomedicine opened up in 2004
and is part of the renowned Max-Planck Society, which is responsible
for fundamental research in Germany.
At present the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Biomedicine has two departments:
The institutes research focuses on the accruement, prevention and therapy of Arteriosclerosis. Clinical cause study is closely connected to modern interdisciplinary research.
The institute consists of seven departments:
PROCAM-Epidemiology, Lipid Metabolism, Cell Biology, Molecular
Genetics of Cardiovaskulare Diseases, Genetic Epidemiology of Vascular
Diseases, Molecular Cardiology and Neurovascular Research
Nanotechnology is one of the key technologies that is expected to come up with a multiplicity of new products and product improvements. With the aim to improve the utilization of the vast potential and multifaceted prospects of nanotechnological research, the CeNTech was created as one of Germany's first centers for nanotechnology. Integrated into the densest network of universities in all over Europe in the German state of North Rhine-Westfalia (NRW), CeNTech provides the ideal environment to direct selected ideas and results of nanotechnological research into technical applications.
CeNTech
promotes the formation of start-up companies that originate from
university research and supports the expansion of companies in the
nanotechnology sector. The CeNTech GmbH provides the general conditions
for entrepreneurs to further develop their research ideas into
marketable products.
